Continuous Growth & Development

PSEL Standard 4: "develop and support intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to promote each student's academic success and well-being."

PSEL Standard 10: "act as agents of continuous improvement to promote each student's academic success and well-being."

"The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership."

~ Harvey S. Firestone

The past two years has required a tremendous amount of continuous growth and development. We have seen an increase in students who require something more than we typically give them. They are more at risk for self-harm, less likely to know how to self-regulate, and now, more than ever, they need an education that responds to their personal needs.

In our district, we are answering this by moving to standards based grading, personalized learning, and all teachers are learning about Trauma Responsive Schools.

The Trauma Responsive School Community eLearning Modules were completed in our Professional Learning Teams with further discussion held with counselors on professional development days.

Through this process, I engaged in great discussions about how trauma affects the brain and how to help students who have experienced trauma. Above, you see the certificate that shows I completed this work.

Personalized Learning is an initiative our district is pursuing to allow students the opportunity to learn in a way that works best for them. As a gifted facilitator, all of my work is personalized for my students. Given the new initiative, I am able to support students and teachers through this process by providing information on how they can implement personalized learning in their classrooms.

The certificate above demonstrates completion of the standards-guided learning course offered through the personalized learnign institute.

Artifact 3

I serve as a district administrator and trainer for the Learning Management System. As such, I have created countless videos and given both in person and remote trainings to individuals and groups. Through this work, I enable others to provide an education to all students whether they are physically present in school or learning remotely because of quarantine.

Artifact 4

I am currently engaging in a book study with a small cohort of teachers from different departments on cultivating emotional resilience in educators. This book is an essential read, especially as we navigate a post-COVID19 world.

Through this book I am learning how to help myself and others engage in true self care and keep from becoming a burned out educator statistic.
